HISTORY

Played over the beautiful and challenging Championship links golf course of Trevose, on the north Cornish coast, teams from all over the world battle it out to lift the prestigious trophy. The WTC is without doubt a highlight in every golfer's career.

The competition was born out of the success of what is the now seen as the most prestigious competition in world sport - The Lager Cup. The inaugural event in 2001 saw 4 teams compete over 2 rounds on the Championship course and was won by the 8&6ers in convincing fashion. In 2002 the organisers agreed to expand the event to 5 teams in a vain attempt to give the Ginga Pirates a chance of not coming last...but that didn't work and the Mavericks silenced their critics with a victory in the fine style that they are accustomed to.

The event has gained widespread coverage in the world's media and is now seen as a must for every professional golfer's career - more so than the Open or the Masters. Due to popular demand from sponsors and fans the 2003 event has expanded once again to include a sixth team and will now be played over 3 rounds with history being made as one round will be played over the infamous par 3 short course.
